Cabinet Run
Guide 03 of 11

Draw the room

Walls come first. Cabinets, windows, doors and countertops all belong to a wall.

Open a room and choose Walls in the panel on the right.

A rectangular room (most kitchens)

In an empty room:

  1. Under Start with a rectangular room, enter Length and Width.
  2. Click Create room.

You can change any wall's length afterwards.

An irregular room, one wall at a time

Walls are drawn as a chain: each new wall starts where the last one ended.

  1. Enter the Length.

  2. Add at: End of run (after the last wall) or Start of run (before the first).

  3. Choose the turn:

    • adding at the end: Turn from previous
    • adding at the start: Turn into run

Options are Right (90°), Left (90°) or Straight.

  4. Click + Add wall.

Adding at either end never moves what's already drawn.

Tip: Walk the room in one direction (say, clockwise) and measure every wall in order. Then add them in that order with the same turn each time.

Change a wall

Each wall is listed as Wall 1, Wall 2… with its length:

  • Length: type a new value and press Enter. The walls after it move to stay joined.
  • h: this wall's own ceiling height. Leave blank to use the room's.
  • ↑ / ↓: move the wall earlier or later in the chain. This changes the room's shape.
  • ✕: delete the wall.

In the Plan view you can also click the overall wall-length dimension to type a new length.

Current limit: you can't insert a wall in the middle of a run or drag a corner. To change the middle of a room, adjust wall lengths or rebuild from the end.

Ceiling height

Ceiling height (in the Walls panel) sets the default for every wall. It controls:

  • wall height in the 3D view
  • how tall pantry and tall cabinets are built
  • where the fridge surround cap sits

A wall with its own h value overrides it, e.g. a lowered soffit wall.

Windows and doors

  1. Select the wall in the plan.
  2. Under Windows & doors, enter From start (distance from the wall's start to the edge of the opening) and Width.
  3. Click + Window or + Door.

Each opening then lists From start, Width, Height and, for windows, Sill height. Edit any of them and press Enter. You can also drag an opening in the Front view.

"From start" is measured from the wall's start point, the same end cabinets measure from. If you're unsure which end that is, add the opening at 0 and look where it lands, then type the real distance.

Why bother: windows let you centre a sink under them, and the elevation shows where wall cabinets would clash.

Islands

  1. Under Islands, enter an Island length and click + Add island.
  2. Select the island (in the plan or the list) to edit it:
    • Length, Depth, Back scribe
    • Spacing off walls: From left and From top position it in the room
    • ⟳ Rotate: turn it 90°
    • ⇄ Flip facing: swap which side the cabinets face
    • Delete island

You can also drag an island in the Plan view.

Islands take base and tall cabinets only. There's nothing above an island to hang wall cabinets from, so they aren't offered.
